Gordon Ryan is one of the greatest no-gi grapplers of all time. From his early days in BJJ, Gordon had undergone a drastic transformation. However, despite his immense talent on the mat, Gordon has suffered multiple health setbacks in his career. Fans have often accused Ryan of steroid usage.

Gordon Ryan underwent a 40-day streak of antibiotics that severely affected his health in some aspects. Ryan was forced to go through physically straining healthcare. This was because a case of strep throat suddenly appeared one day, leaving the grappler incapable of performing even the basic tasks without utter discomfort. The conditions only worsened over time, putting Gordon out of action for many months.

It also brought back some of Gordon’s pre-existing gut problems. These infamous problems had previously nearly ended his career. Ryan mentioned his severe health condition while conversing with UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

In that episode, Gordon told Joe Rogan about his misdiagnosis and how it only prolonged his recovery and worsened things. He took to Instagram to inform his followers about his condition and his competition status. He wrote, “Everyone posts their best. Be confident enough to post your worst. When I got the strep…every time I elevated my heart rate I felt my head would explode. It’s been two months since I’ve been able to do any intense activity”.

Ryan uploaded a before and after pic for comparison. Ryan mentioned that his focus remains on getting healthy and helping his teammates and students prepare for matches. He said, ” The goal isn’t to be in the mix having fun. Winning, that’s fun for me…Just know, when I come back, boy, will I be back”. Even though many people sympathized with his condition and wished him a speedy recovery, many were quick to accuse the incredible grappler of steroid usage.

Everybody saying that this transformation is due to him being off PEDs, but what illness he has to be like this in such a short period? Damn he looks drained and pale AF, that couldn't be just side effects of being natty for some months.

27-year-old Ryan has not competed since his victory against long-time rival Nicky Rodriguez last year. Ryan was expected to return earlier this year but had to back out due to his circumstances. Chances of Ryan returning to competition this year remain unlikely.
