Hugo Sanchez is cautious about Real Madrid's failure to reach the Champions League Final, as they have been the clear leaders by reaching five finals in the last 10 years.

In an interview with MARCA Mexico, Sanchez reviewed the 2022-23 season from a Real Madrid perspective and left a message for their rivals in Europe's top club competition.

"Sadly Real Madrid couldn't reach another Champions League Final, but we've won enough, so we have to give a chance to others who have won very few," he explained to MARCA Mexico.

It should be remembered that the Spanish club is the all-time leading Champions League winner with 14, double that of their closest challenger, AC Milan who have seven.

For this year's final, Manchester City, who knocked Los Blancos out in the semi-finals, will try to lift their first Champions League trophy, while Inter will be looking to reach four titles to overtake Manchester United, and match Ajax.

Despite Los Blancos' ups and downs, Hugo Sanchez considers that the season has been good given the fact they won the Copa del Rey and the Club World Cup.

Obviously more was expected, but above all because there was a clear disappointment in their LaLiga Santander defense.

"There were too many points acquired by Barcelona and that is what has worried and drawn the attention of the board, but I am convinced that they will react next season," he declared.

Vinicius, the present and future of Real Madrid

On the other hand, Hugo Sanchez highlighted the development that Vinicius Jr. has undergone in recent years.

"Vinicius has attracted a lot of attention because of the growth he has had in previous seasons, where he once lacked the last pass or touch, and to be more effective in front of goal, he has worked more to help."

"That extra work helped him to become an indispensable player for Real Madrid's game, and now he has become one of the best players in the world."
