An electric bicycle rider has suffered serious injuries in a head-on crash with a car.
It happened about 5.35pm on Monday in Kelmscott, about 23km southeast of Perth’s CBD, when the 36-year-old e-bike rider was heading north on River Rd.
Western Australia Police say a grey Honda Civic hatchback was travelling south on the same road when the pair collided near the intersection with Orlando St.
The e-bike rider suffered serious injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by St John Ambulance.
The 64-year-old woman driving the Honda wasn’t hurt, but was taken to Armadale Hospital as a precaution.
Police are now calling for witnesses to the crash as they investigate.
Those with dashcam or mobile phone vision of the crash can submit it online.
While those who saw the crash, or either the bike or Honda prior to the incident, can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or make an anonymous report online.
The crash comes just a day after another e-bike rider, a 49-year-old man, was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition after an elderly woman reportedly hit the accelerator of her electric car by accident.
It happened on Sunday afternoon in the Mullaloo Beach car park, a popular beachside area in Perth’s northern suburbs, with the collision pinning the e-bike rider between the woman’s car and two other vehicles.
