Ashley Darby waited nearly three decades to see her father’s face again only to get the door slammed in hers. The Real Housewives of Potomac star opened up about that heartbreaking moment that millions of viewers witnessed.
Ashley’s parents split when she was just a baby. After hesitance from her husband, aunt, uncle, and mother, the crew made their way to Georgia to knock on her father’s door.
She had already been ignored via snail mail and blocked on social media by the very man that was half of the reason she was brought into this world but the Bravolebrity always longed for closure and maybe even a relationship with her biological dad.
She explained: ‘When I sit with myself, I think about my life and who I am and all that. I think about my dad a lot. I have never known my dad … I’m tired of thinking about it. I need it for myself. I need to close this chapter of my life to look to the future. This is something I’ve been thinking about a long time, reconnecting with my other side of my family. So what’s stopping me? As I’m trying to embark on starting a family, I’m thinking about my kid and what my kid will ask. They will want to know about their grandparents and their aunts and uncles. I feel like it’s a responsibility of mine to foster those relationships.’
Only when the group finally arrived at her father’s house, he gave her and her mother a snarky look and closed the door in their faces.

Ashley appeared on Watch What Happens Live where she said: ‘That was so hard. It’s hard to relive it. That was the most challenging thing I’ve done ever. For my dad to look me in the eye and close the door in my face was so hard. It was really hard to watch.’
