Rihanna is set to appear on the soundtrack for the new Star Trek: Beyond movie.
The singer has recorded a brand new track called ‘Sledgehammer’, which is being advertised on iTunes in the US. Eagle-eyed tweeters, including Pop Crave, noticed an advertising banner for the single, and soon shared the news with fans online.

It has also been pointed out that it’s likely that this song has been in the works for over two years. Rihanna tweeted lyrics, which look likely to be from ‘Sledgehammer’, back in May 2014.

A release date has yet to be announced, however the film will be released in the US on July 22, therefore the song should be unveiled pretty soon!
Rihanna is currently riding high in the UK charts, with two songs in the top five. ‘This is What You Came For’, her collaboration with Calvin Harris, is currently at number four, whilst ‘Too Good’, her song with Drake, is at number five.
We’re excited for some new Rihanna music and we can’t wait to hear what she’ll bring to the Star Trek soundtrack. We’ve got a sneaky suspicion that the track will be out of this world!
Star Trek: Beyond stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, John Cho and Anton Yelchin, who tragically passed away recently.
