One of the biggest reasons why My Hero Academia is so popular has to be the unique character designs.
Every character seems so pleasing – from the ways that their quirks reflect on their bodies/faces, to how they integrate those quirks into their costumes.
And because of that style, of course there’s a slew of best girls & waifus.
From the girls of UA, to pro heroes, or even just regular people, everyone in this show has got a personality that’ll stick with you long after watching the show.
So let’s rank out the ultimate list of the best waifus in MHA, and wish me luck as we stir up more battles in the waifu war.
15. Mitsuki Bakugo
Let’s start off with the only character on this list who’s actually not a hero or a villain – just a mom who does her best to keep her hot-headed son in his place.
Mitsuki captured my heart the second that I saw her on screen not standing for any of Bakugo’s crap. And I think a lot of other fans would agree with me.
On top of her beautiful look, I love her more jokey demeanor that’s accented by her own hot-headedness that clearly shows you where Bakugo got his own from.
14. Nejire Hado (Nejire Chan)
Being one of the Big Three in UA, Nejire is a bubbly and somewhat ditzy character, but wields an undeniably impressive amount of power.
With her cute blue aesthetic and very long beautiful hair, with a power that allows her to do a lot of incredible things, it’s no wonder why she’s such a popular gal – both in and outside of the anime.
I personally love seeing Nejire when she’s interacting with her fellow members of the Big Three, Mirio and Tamaki, as the three work off each other so well.
What a waifu.
13. Momo Yaoyorozu (Creati)
Momo is one of the most popular girls in UA with good reason.
She’s humble, she’s smart, and she’s incredibly cute, feeling bashful about how much skin her costume shows.
And she’s also quite wealthy – which certainly isn’t a negative. Though her wealthy upbringing caused her to not quite understand how most people live every day.
Though she never really judges her fellow classmates. In fact she wants to represent them in the best way possible as the class representative.
12. Mei Hatsume
This is a girl that’s far more concerned with her inventions than just about anything else in her life.
Her drive is impressive, and she’ll do just about anything to get her “babies” recognized.
And she’s successful too, she’s a genuinely talented inventor that helps out a bunch of other students with their costume designs.
She may not have the most impressive quirk when it comes to combat. But when she’s back in the lab working up a storm, she has few people that she can call her equals.
11. Tsuyu Asui (Froppy)
The adorable frog hero, Froppy, but you can just call her Tsu.
She’s a fan favorite who works well with a lot of her other classmates.
She’s paired up with Deku, Ochako, Ida, and Tokoyami, and each time her talents using her frog-like powers is always a huge boon to whoever she’s working with.
Beyond that, she just has a super laid back personality and seems like quality waifu material.
She’s the kind of girl you can just chill and hang out with, and she’d be happy to go along with anything.
10. Emi Fukukado (Ms. Joke)
I loved this girl the minute I saw her pestering Aizawa during the Hero License Exam arc of the show.
There’s something about her cheerful nature that just makes me laugh.
Though I suppose that’s her goal at the end of the day, considering her name. Honestly I just love anime characters that have a good sense of humor.
And even though she seems purely about the jokes, she clearly has a good eye for heroes, as her commentary picks out a lot of important qualities while she’s watching the students.
9. Camie Utsushimi (Maboromicamie)
Camie’s definitely a big ditz, but she’s such a fun character.
And the first time we see her, she’s uhh… not quite feeling herself.
But once she’s back in her groove and we see her working with Bakugo and Todoroki with the children, trying to placate them, we can see she has a very caring personality.
Though it makes some of the younger girls jealous, she really never means any harm in what she does. She’s just not afraid to flaunt her stuff and rock what she’s got.
She just has a natural personality and charisma that makes people like her, and I’m counted among one of her many fans.
8. Mina Ashido (Pinky)
Mina is one of the cutest girls in the series.
She’s got a fun personality and extends that to her classmates, especially when she teaches everyone how to dance.
She likes to have a good time, and even when she’s using her powers, it’s clear that she’s loving every minute of it as she skates along the ground with her acid.
Though she may not be the strongest when it comes to academics, her carefree personality is more than enough to make up for it.
7. Kaoruko Awata (Bubble Girl)
One of Nighteye’s iconic sidekicks is the absolutely adorable Bubble Girl.
I love her so much, and I love her laid back nature. Even when she makes mistakes she very easily moves past them.
She’s been fired several times for silly mistakes that she makes, but how could anyone stay mad at that face?
She’s too precious.
Though when things are serious she’s able to remain calm, even in grim situations where things really seem like they’re going to take a turn for the worse.
6. Manami Aiba (La Brava)
While Manami is technically a “villain” she’s hardly someone who means any kind of malice towards the people that she offends.
Most of the crimes they perform don’t really hurt anyone.
The only reason why she and Gentle are villains is because he was never able to become a pro-hero, so he decided to forge his own path.
La Brava is wholly dedicated to Gentle and has turned her life around ever since meeting him, making her outlook on life much more positive and excitable.
5. Yu Takeyama (Mt. Lady)
This is one of the first pro heroes that we’re introduced to in the show, and Mt. Lady is one of the most immediately attractive candidates for best waifu.
She’s sassy, she’s flirty, she’s playful, and she has a very relatable personality.
Yes it’s true that she can be a little bit lazy, but that doesn’t stop her from acting heroically.
She even face tanks (quite literally) some villains in order to allow students to escape an absurdly dangerous situation.
And I have to say again that she’s quite the looker, securing her place here in this ranking.
4. Nana Shimura
The previous holder of One for All before even All Might’s hold of it.
Nana Shimura is inspirational – she taught All Might everything he knew about being a hero.
She always insists heroes should have a smile on their face, so that people that are being saved can be put at ease, despite how dire the situation may be.
And let’s talk about that smile.
It is one of the absolute cutest things on this Earth, and I would die to protect it.
Nana is precious. And it’s unfortunate how little we get to see of her in the anime.
3. Ochako Uraraka (Uravity)
We get to see a lot of Ochako since she’s part of the main cast, which gives her a little bit of an advantage in the waifu department.
But Ochako is such a wholesome cutie, and I cannot help but smile whenever she gets hyped up over something.
And she has one of the cutest love developments with Deku.
Her power is also really interesting, being able to make things float as if they’re light as air, which always seemed indicative of her very lighthearted personality.
She may be getting in the game to make some cash – but her heart is still pure.
And that puts her well near the top of the ranking for me.
2. Rumi Usagiyama (Mirko)
The Bunny Hero is an icon to anyone who loves buff girls.
Mirko is confident and sassy. She loves people who speak their mind, and isn’t afraid to do the same.
I love her personality above all else, and the fact that she has rabbit aesthetics is a huge bonus to me. I don’t think I’ve fallen for a character so fast before in my life.
I think I got so excited when she spoke for the first time… and considering Hawks came right after her?
God my heart just couldn’t take it.
I crave more Mirko now that I’ve been exposed to her.
I demand to see her in every scene, even if it has to be off in the background. I just need more bunny girls!
1. Himiko Toga
Okay, I want to preface this choice with a note:
Normally I do not like yanderes. It’s just not really my thing, I think there’s some well written ones, but they’ve never really been anywhere near my best girls.
But Toga?
God I love Toga so much.
I can’t explain quite why she’s the exception to the rule. But she is the undeniably cutest girl and the best waifu in MHA.
She’s unhinged, wild, and such a fun character that I love to see every single time that she’s on the screen.
Her twin buns, her cat-like eyes, are just some of her features that really stand out.
I don’t think I’ll ever be able to like another Yandere now though. Considering I’ve found one I like as much as her, I feel like any potential waifu yanderes are ruined for me.
But that’s okay.
I have my multiple Toga figurines, plushies, and posters to make up for it. Hey don’t judge me, I refuse to be judged.
