Lollobrigida was the daughter of a furniture manufacturer and his wife and was born Luigia Lollobrigida in Subiaco. Giuliana , Maria , and Fernanda are her three sisters. Lollobrigida worked as a model and competed successfully in a number of beauty pageants when she was younger. Lollobrigida started making cameo appearances in Italian movies about this period.

Lollobrigida made a guest appearance in the TV show The Love Boat the following year.
